Counselling

Counselling on the Hibiscus Coast

Well done on taking the first step!

The most important part of therapy is feeling like there is a fit between you and the therapist. You should feel that you can open up and talk about anything you need to.

Counselling is based upon drawing inner wisdom from within; working with you to make decisions, listen to your story, and walk beside you.

Trauma Focused Counselling

Emotional wounding can result from a wide range of events which can occur in our lives. Trauma can cause disconnection, anxiety and depression, parenting difficulties and relational challenges. It can have a flow on effect to how safe we feel in the world and how we function in our day-to-day lives.

Kristal specialises in trauma focused areas. She has the knowledge and understanding of how best to support you while you bring life back together.

I provide gender identity and sexual orientation affirming counselling support. I have a strong knowledge base and competency in supporting Rainbow, Takatāpui and LGBTTIAQ+ identifying people. I engage with a specifically Rainbow competent supervisor, and have connections to resources or services that you may need.

I use a broad range of techniques which are carefully selected to fit your specific needs. I work with a solution-focused and strengths-based approach. These may include the integrated use of DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), narrative therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma informed approaches. My approach is culturally aware, and looks at how we can best work together to move life forward. I will endeavour to meet your needs in the counselling process.
